If you are considering building a garden shed, then you must have a well laid out set of garden shed plans. You want your garden shed plans to include a material list that will help you budget your money and get the most of your garden shed.

One of the first things you need to do is determine the use of your garden shed. This is necessary since you don't want to end up with garden shed plans for a small cabanna type shed when it is a full size garden shed with a second room for the riding lawn equipment.

Why is the material list important with your garden shed plans? Simply to help you save money. When you have a material list before you start building your garden shed then you will hava a clear idea of what the costs will be. Water features come in many shapes and sizes and can add that individual touch that makes your garden stand out from the rest. They're not that complicated to fit, but the result can be transforming.

If you create your water feature in a container garden, you even have the flexibility of moving it around, dressing it up in different plants according to the season, which can change the whole feel of your garden.

There's something about water, I don't know whether it's the sound of it running and trickling, or the sight of it tumbling over stones and splashing into a pool, but it has to be one of the most enjoyable and relaxing of additions to any garden. Just watching the sunlight sparkle and dance, and seeing the reflections of all the colors of flowers and plants, I can't help but smile.

There's also the fact that water attracts wildlife too. As enjoyable as they are to watch, the birds you'll attract with a water feature will make for great pest control, all of it completely natural, with not a chemical in sight.

Don't be discouraged by the prospect of having to do plumbing or wiring. These days you can get water features that are really simple to install without the need for any technical knowledge or expertise. And even if you don't want to go that far, simply keeping a bird bath topped up with water will attract all sorts of birds to your garden. And birds are great to have in your garden.

In addition to providing endless entertainment, they'll also eat many of today's pests such as leatherjackets and wireworms. And not only that, they'll also improve the fertility of your soil with their droppings. It's also a fact that birds with a good supply of water will eat less of your fruits and berries.

If you want to start small, you might want to consider a container pond. They make a great and simple addition to any garden and carry many advantages over a more traditional pond such as;

* you can have a container pond in an area as small as a fire escape

* they are portable so you can move them about

* you can take them with you when you move house

Water features, pools and container ponds can transform your garden and bring a huge amount of pleasure. Gardening guides usually fall into one of three categories:

1. Those that are too general, and thus end up being more like encyclopedias. Too much information to sort through!

2. Those that are filled with lots of pretty pictures, but very little useful information or instruction.

3. And then there are the guides that are too specialized - say, a book all about just hostas or a guide that only covers growing tomatoes.

What I found that I really wanted was a simple guide that was:

Short enough to be easily read in a day or so.

Covers all the general kinds of gardening (flowers, vegetables, and "general" gardening).

Stripped bare of fluff, and filled only with solid, useful instruction.

That's exactly the kind of guide you will find when you take a look at The Gardener's Handbook

Getting Lost In The Backyard

Have you ever gotten lost in your backyard? The grass has grown so much since all the rain we have gotten that one could almost fanish. I may need a tractor to cut it this time. Other than that, I could really stand to get lost in my backyard garden, working in the flower beds, trimming the shrubs, and just relaxing. Sounds good doesn't it. Maybe this weekend I won't have anthing else to do but to work in my backyard and catch up on some of the chores that I'm getting behind on. Wooden garden sheds simply have a warm and inviting look and feel about them that you can not get with the metal or plastic garden sheds. Because the wooden garden shed can be custom designed as well, it makes the perfect selection for a garden shed.

Some things you should consider before purchasing or building a wooden garden shed is what your intent for using the garden shed is. Will it be used for tool and equipment storage, maybe a potting shed or even as a workshop? As you can see, the uses for a garden shed can greatly vary as well as the layout and design. Once you have decided how you will use your new garden shed, you will need to determine where to place it in your yard or garden.

To get the most use from your garden shed you will need to be sure you have it located where you can provide electricity and water. I am quite certain that you will want lighting and be able to operate small electric hand tools. Of course water is necessary for the watering of your plants and clean up as well.

Once you have your new wooden garden shed outfitted with all the garden tools, lawn equipment and even your garden tractor, you will be ready to enjoy many hours of relaxing gardening working from your
own garden shed.

The Butchart Gardens

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_MsQZ-sSQGnM/Rlnkt0uWzRI/AAAAAAAAAAU/1ZYYneUUafc/s320/Sunken+Garden+Delight.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5069334331480526098" />

Recently I had the great experience of visiting the Butchart Gardens, fifty-five acres of breath taking floral display located on Canada’s west on Vancouver Island just north of Victoria. You can stroll down winding paths and around each corner you will delight in spectacular views of waves of color and lush green plants. The Butchart Gardens have been in bloom for over 100 years, started in 1904 by Jeannie Butchart. The Butchart Gardens are truly one of the most spectacular gardens and corners of the world. I have posted a few of these spectacular views over at The Garden Shed main site shoud you want to take a look.

In 1888 Robert Pim Butchart began manufacturing Portland cement. Near the turn of the century he had become a highly successful pioneer in his North American industry. Attracted to the West Coast of Canada by rich deposits of limestone which is vital for cement production, he built a new factory at Tod Inlet, on Vancouver Island. There in 1904 he and his family established their home.

As Mr. Butchart exhausted the limestone in the quarry near their house, Jeannie, his wife conceived an unprecedented plan for refurbishing the bleak pit that resulted. She requisitioned tons of top soil from near by farmland and had it brought to Tod Inlet by horse and cart. She used this topsoil to line the floor of the abandoned quarry. Little by little, under Jeannie Butchart’s personal supervision, the abandoned quarry bloomed as the spectacular Sunken Garden. If you love gardening or simply enjoy breath taking views of grand floral display, I highly suggest you visit the Butchart Gardens. Take a look at some of the pictures I took of the Butchart Gardens posted over at the main site of The Garden Shed.

In Your Garden

Who doesn't love an opportunity to get dirty, and work the earth while working in your garden? Clean all the dirt off with the water hose getting down into all the little spaces where dirt can hide.

2. Wipe off the excess water with a clean rag or old towel. Never leave water on your garden tools before you put them away. This will quickly cause them to rust.

3. Next you can spray all the metal surfaces of your garden tools with a silicone
or lubricant spray that displaces water and helps prevent rust.

4. All you have to do is grab the right garden tool for the job and enjoy your gardening tasks.

Space Maker Garden Shed

If you are looking for a garden shed that will last, then this garden shed is the one you have to have.
